About Us

Connecting people to the cultural heritage and history of Farnham, using the collections and historic site that we care for

The museum will be temporarily switching its main entrance during forthcoming works on the front door area. This is currently due to take place between 29/06 – 13/07. During opening hours, entrance to the museum will be via the back door (accessed via the side gate on Bishop’s Mead).

The Museum of Farnham is a local history museum founded in 1961 to provide the Farnham community with a collection dedicated to the history of the local area.

The Museum cares for over 65,000 objects, including social history, costume, fine art and archival collections. It is situated within a Grade I listed Georgian townhouse (Willmer House) which is an integral part of the Museum’s collection.

The Museum also looks after a beautiful walled garden and a popular community hire space, the Garden Gallery.

The Museum is an integral part of the Farnham Maltings Association (“the Maltings”), a creative and cultural charity which has operated as an arts and community centre for Farnham since 1969.

One of the core charitable objectives of Farnham Maltings is improve the quality of life of the community they work with and encourage people to participate in, understand and shape the world. This makes the Museum a key part of their overall vision for the future.
