“All around me I hear… ‘Aren’t we lucky, aren’t we blessed to have all this.’ I’m a Patron so that I can help the Maltings team reach even more people and make sure no-one misses out on all they have to offer. ” – Farnham Maltings Patron
Patron scheme
Since the launch of our Patrons group in November 2014, members of the community and local businesses have generously supported us with regular donations. So far, these contributions have helped us to develop a number of initiatives including events as part of our Arts & Health programme such as lively and light-hearted singing sessions for people living with dementia and their carers and the regular weekly social group Meet Me at the Maltings.
As well as helping us reach out to people with dementia, we are also delighted that donations from our Patrons support our work with young people too. Their regular contributions have recently funded a piece of work by Step by Step, a homeless support charity based in Aldershot. A group of clients from the charity collaborated with London-based company Clicking Machine to create a short documentary about Step by Step and their work with young people. The group then presented the piece at Spark Youth Arts festival, Spark: an artistic celebration of Waverley’s young people.
Delivered by the Maltings and Waverley Borough Council, the festival showcased new work by a number of community groups, including Haslemere Home Education Group, Hale Sure Start Centre, Over the Top Youth Theatre, Step by Step, Wrecclesham Cub Scouts and 40 Degreez.
Step by Step was so impressed with the documentary that it will now be used as a resource for all new clients that come to the charity.
If you would like to find out more about the Farnham Maltings Patrons group and how their regular donations can support our community further, please email patrons@farnhammaltings.com or speak to our Development Manager, Sarah Barton on 01252 745425.
