Join us for a fun, hands-on workshop where you'll dive into the art of steeking! This session will give you the confidence to try the technique, perfect for intermediate knitters ready to take their skills up a notch. With clear, step-by-step instructions and expert tips, you'll tackle any fear of cutting your knitting, open the door to endless possibilities to create beautifully finished pieces, like cardigans and pullovers, andinspire fresh ideas. We'll explore the history and purpose of steeking and when to use it in your projects. Then, you'll get to practice by knitting a colourwork swatch, securing the steek with the crochet method, and cutting it confidently. By the end of this workshop, you'll understand what steeking is and why it's done, know how to add steeks to your projects, get hands-on practice with securing and cutting steeks, and have learnt other tips and tricks for steeking with various yarns.
Suitable for intermediates. Students should have experience with stranded colourwork and a few finished colourwork garments to their name. Being comfortable knitting colourwork in the round is necessary, but purling in colourwork isn't needed.
