Join textile and natural dye artist Sam Jones for a calming, creative day immersed in the beauty of indigo shibori. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore the art of stitched resist techniques, focusing on the simple yet versatile running stitch to create intricate patterns before dyeing your fabric in rich, natural indigo blues.

This workshop offers a relaxed and supportive environment where techniques can be adapted to suit beginners and experienced makers alike. You’ll spend time mindfully stitching, learning traditional processes, and enjoying the magic of indigo dyeing. By the end of the day, you’ll leave with your own beautifully dyed piece, some samples and the confidence to continue exploring shibori at home.

All materials are provided, including your choice of an organic cotton scarf or tote bag perfect for creating a meaningful keepsake or a thoughtful handmade Christmas gift.

Please bring to the workshop:

  • an apron- we will be working with printing inks.
  • rubber gloves
  • notebook and pen
  • a packed lunch
  • camera/mobile phone for recording processes
  • a plastic bag for taking wet work home
  • your own packed lunch
  • feel free to bring small fabric items, such as lightweight old cotton or linen handkerchiefs or place mats, to decorate and dye using the techniques you learn.

Suitable for all skill levels.
