We are very excited to announce that the first University for the Creative Arts (UCA) production in the BA (Hons) Acting 2026/27 final-year theatre season will be the original Broadway version of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin, and conceived by Rebecca Feldman, to be performed in the Great Hall at Farnham Maltings this November.

Winner of both the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, and celebrating its 20th anniversary last year with a hugely successful Off-Broadway revival, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences around the world with its effortless wit and humour. Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny and touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and a fresh and vibrant score by William Finn.

At each performance, a small selection of audience members will be chosen to compete in the spelling bee live on stage. More information will be available in the theatre’s front of house foyer prior to curtain up - arrive early to be in with a chance of joining the company as part of the show.

We look forward to seeing you at the bee, a musical first for Performance at UCA!
