News Story

Passionate newspaper man and community champion Sir Ray Tindle passed away in April 2022 aged 95.

Sir Ray is remembered with huge affection and respect by all of us at Farnham Maltings, The Tindle studio is so named because of his preparedness to encourage and invest in bringing the south wing of these buildings back into public use. Since that work was completed over ten years ago thousands of young people, community users, artists and theatre companies have benefitted from his generous support. However it is his mischief and ability to tell a story that we will miss the most. He had an indefatigable enthusiasm for Farnham, its history and its people was always ready to share a story, often at his own expense and treated every one he met with curiosity, respect and openness.
