In this exciting and innovative class, Helen will show you how to manipulate your knitting so that you can purl backwards, eliminating the need to turn your work to achieve a purl stitch.

In this two hour workshop, we will together practice the techniques of purling backwards with both the left hand and the right hand making it suitable for both pickers (continental) & throwers (English style). Advantages of this technique include decreased pressure on hands when purling giving a more ergonomic and comfortable way to purl.

It is ideal for patterns that call for short rows or small amounts of knitting backwards and forwards (think soft toys and baby booties). Long term this will give you confidence to use both hands when knitting which helps with colourwork and stranded knitting.

• yarn
• a pair of needles
  
• a stitch holder

You do have the option to purchase yarn, needles and stitch holder for £6.50 per person payable to tutor at the workshop.

This workshop is suitable for all. The ability to knit and purl in whichever style (throwing or picking)are the basic skills required.
