Discover the beauty of Ahir mirrorwork embroidery, traditionally practised by the Ahir Community of Kutch, Gujurat.

Known for its distinctive circular mirrors, secured with dense stitching, you will learn about how this embroidery has long been used to embellish garments, textiles and ceremonial dress.

In this session, participants will be guided through the fundamentals of Ahir mirrorwork, learning how to set mirrors securely, and build decorative stitch patterns around them. Alongside traditional examples, we will also look at how this technique can be adapted for contemporary use.

You'll be encourage to develop your own small designs and consider how mirrorwork can be applied to clothing and accessories.

As this work can sometimes be a bit fiddly, it is recommended that you have some experience, although beginners are very much welcomed.

All materials will be provided, but please feel free to bring any threads or colours of fabric of your choosing.
