Maltings Lunchtime Jazz present a regular monthly jazz performance on a Thursday lunchtime in the relaxed setting of the Barley Room. Performances are normally the last Thursday of each month.

Featuring a guest performer supported by a regular house trio of piano, saxophone and double bass. Previous guests have included Nigel Price, Steve Waterman, Tony Woods, Stuart Henderson and Debbie Bracknell.


Simon Bates - Saxophone

Do join us next Thursday June 25th for this month’s lunchtime jazz at the Maltings with saxophonist Simon Bates!

Simon is known and respected for his stylistic versatility and instrumental prowess. His playing features on countless adverts, film scores, theme tunes and pop recordings and he has appeared live and recorded with a wide variety of bands and musicians including Elvis Costello, Jamie Cullum, Lulu, Rick Wakeman, Chaka Khan, Seal, Beverley Knight, Kylie Minogue, Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, and many more. He appears frequently on television and radio on programmes such as The One Show, Strictly Come Dancing, The Big Breakfast and The Parkinson Show.

Simon is Professor of Saxophone for the Royal Marines and the Royal Corps of Army Music and has featured as a guest soloist with many major ensembles including the London Concert Orchestra, Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band and the bands of the Grenadier and Coldstream Guards.

The lunchtime jazz from 1pm to 2pm in the Barley Room at the Maltings.

Doors open at 12.30, entry is just £10 on the door, and you’re most welcome to bring food and drink from the café.
