festival exhibitor

Shirley Nelson is an ex headhunter turned jeweller and makes jewellery that is inspired by nature and the sea using techniques that have been practised for centuries such as granulation, sand casting and forging. Texture, form and colour are key features of their work and they love to add colour with enamel, gemstones and keum boo. Sustainability is important to Shirley and their practice. Recycled metals are used and she sources stones from ethical suppliers wherever possible. Shirley works slowly and intentionally, outside of seasonal trends, to create jewellery that celebrates the beauty of organic imperfection.
