nbNg is the work of self instructed metalsmith Nettie Birch. Nettie uses her problem-solving background from her former career in the ink industry to explore the limits of material and technique, using the relatively new discipline of fold-forming to make tablewares and the far older skill of hand raising to create vessels, working in copper and pewter. Many of her pieces take a simplistic form, allowing the beauty of colours formed in patination to speak, whilst others seek to bring the softness and fluidity of nature to a hard, metallic material creating very organic looking work.
