Mahliqa specialises in hand knitted and hand crocheted jewellery, using gemstones, crystal and textiles. A variety of mixed media is used, from precious metals to hand dyed silks & yarns. As a London-born British South-Asian, Mahliqa’s designer, Suraya draws on her cultural heritage of arts and handicrafts from the Indian sub-continent and is influenced by ancient Mughal jewellery styles. Her pieces use fine wires to replicate the delicate filigree work of Persian jewellery artisans of old. The collections exude a delicate, iridescent beauty, recapturing the elegance and opulence of a bygone era.
