Kate Alger

Kate loves the range and depth of styles, techniques and processes within printmaking. For Kate, the blend of drawing and physically making that printmaking offers is a little slice of magic.
Their work is varied in technique and subject matter but it all seeks to capture something beautiful and timeless.
This is Kate's second time at Printworks and they are excited to be sharing the joy of printmaking through their work (if you like trees, dogs, cats, wildlife, plants and classic cars - come and see what Kate does!).
Kate will also be running a workshop and delivering a talk at this years’ festival.
Kate has been teaching a wide range of art and craft disciplines for well over ten years. She teaches all ages and abilities, from toddlers to retired people, and regularly runs workshops for multi-generational family groups, vulnerable teenagers, female prisoners, and adult survivors of child sexual abuse. She leads a weekly affordable art-for-wellbeing session in Guildford and believes strongly in the importance of creating things with our hands.
Kate's artwork is exhibited all over the UK, has been shortlisted for several printmaking prizes, and won the Pressing Matters prize at the inaugural Ironbridge Printmaking Open. She was a finalist in the DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year 2024 and 2025 and is a member of the Guild of Motoring Artists. Kate accepts commissions - especially if it's a much-loved pet.
