Isabel Merrick make colourful functional domestic earthenware pots for the table and for cooking in. The designs are based on the beautiful countryside of Mid Devon where their studio is based. Whilst walking her dog, Isabel collects and forms ideas to transpose onto the work creating a stylistic visual language.

The patchwork patterns created by the landscape and trees are very consistent within her work. No two pots are the same as Isabel likes the fluidity of working freehand, drawing and using scraffitto and layering the slips to form the decoration typical of her work. Isabel also make larger statement pieces that she calls “Painting’s on clay”.
