Sophie’s printmaking at Fairlight Prints focusses on two main areas, traditional hand-carved linocut relief prints and Intaglio etchings with aquatint, a lengthy process which results in tonal depth. Many of her prints are inspired by the beauty and essence of flowers and foliage in their natural form, from intricate and colourful floral designs to coastal and forest landscapes. Sophie incorporates detailed carving, incorporating the background ‘chatter’ to create movement and expression. All her prints are hand-made using traditional artisan techniques. Sophie’s prints are on display at RHS Wisley Gallery as well as other local galleries in Surrey.
