Cabinet of Curios
Imagine cabinet drawers and furniture shelves from the 16th century housing precious artefacts, animals and plants acquired and preserved through long journeys from faraway lands. Amanda has created an inspired and contemporary version of the natural world with a little added whimsy. Hand sculpted textile and leather animals such as butterflies, crabs, snails, crows and magpies are enhanced with embroidery, wire work, felting and paper clay. Not everything is true to life and acorn folk, pea babies, mermaids and even the occasional fairy garden make their way into ‘The Cabinet’. But everything is designed and handmade by Amanda in her rural Somerset cottage.
