KinoSonic returns celebrating music and sound in film

Farnham Maltings is thrilled to announce the return of KinoSonic, a three-day festival presented in partnership with the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) Farnham, celebrating the rich worlds of film, music, and sound creation.

Taking place from Fri 08 - Sun 10 November 2024, the festival is focused on fostering creativity through a diverse programme of performances, screenings, workshops, and networking events. The festival brings together acclaimed artists to showcase their work and creative processes providing unique opportunities for learning, inspiration, and connection within the creative industries.


Highlights of KinoSonic 2024 include:

  • 4-piece band Minima performing a live score to Alfred Hitchock’s classic silent film The Lodger
  • Discussions with acclaimed filmmakers Robert Morgan and Peter Strickland
  • An exclusive Q&A with musician and filmmaker Bat for Lashes (Natasha Khan) following a screening of her film The Dream of Delphi - A New Transmission
  • The BBC Big Band performing a concert of iconic film scores from 80 years of cinema
  • BFI Network Showcase of short films and immersive audio-visual installations from Dr. William Bishop-Stephens and UCA’s Sea of Cables
  • Workshops on topics like Foley sound effects, film scoring, and experimental music creation
  • The launch of the Farnham Maltings Family Film Club, featuring interactive workshops inspired by the art of animation and movie making

Tickets for KinoSonic 2024 are on sale now with the workshops being are hosted across both UCA Farnham and Farnham Maltings with the screenings, talks and performances taking place at Farnham Maltings.
