News Story

Ahead of their summer sounds show later this month, we took some time to find out more about dynamic musical duo Sophie Edmonds and Cameron Websdale.

We can’t wait for your acoustic show as part of our summer sounds programme, how are you feeling about playing live again?

Yes, we are very excited to be playing live again! Lockdown was extremely difficult and we missed the live element of our act, so having an audience again will be amazing.

What can we expect from a Soph & Cam show?

You can expect lots of new material and some reinventions of old songs.

How long have you been working together and what’s the story behind how you met?

We have been working together about 5 years now. The story is that we were dating, and it took a while before we decided to play a song together to see how it sounded and whether we would actually get along. The rest is history, we started playing through some songs, it worked, and we haven’t killed each other yet - a great success!

With so many songs to choose from, how do you decide what to include in your set list?

Sophie mainly decides ha! We think if you have a good balance of everything as well as songs you really enjoy playing it can’t go wrong.

If we were to take a look at the artists you are currently listening to, who would be on your playlist?

Cam: Fever - Dan Kye

Soph: Paolo Nutini - Sunny Side Up album

Is there a song or piece of music that you wish you’d written/composed?

Soph: Eva Cassidy’s arrangement of Autumn Leaves, it’s beautiful

Cam: Gangnam Style

If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be and why?

John Mayer. It was the first gig we saw together, and we love John Mayer - would be very fun to play on that stage. Plus, Cam would probably get to meet Pino Palladino and cry.

Book tickets for summer sounds: Soph and Cam on Sat 31 July at 8pm, here.
