News Story
maltings at… is a community project produced by Farnham Maltings and funded by Farnham Town Council. Over the summer we programmed free events in four community venues around the town, taking creative workshops and performances to people who may not necessarily engage with the arts. For this year's programme, we visited St Marks’ Church and Community Centre in Upper Hale, Brambleton Hall in Wrecclesham, St George’s C of E Church in Badshot Lea and Hale Community Centre.
We programmed a range of events across the four venues throughout each week of August aimed at children of all ages. This included performances of Farnham Maltings and Scoot Theatre's summer touring production Mrs Armitage on Wheels, the beautiful puppet show The Giant Who Slept for Ten Thousand Years and an incredible dance performance by New Adventures as part of their Doorstep Duets tour. We also ran drama and lino printing workshops to give a flavour of some of the regular holiday workshops we run at the Maltings as well as an introduction to Beatboxing from Danny Ladwa.
We ran an event in each venue once a week for the four weeks of August. Over the whole project we engaged around 300 adults and children who participated in some element of this project.

“I really appreciate that the Maltings can offer these activities free to the local community. Not only are they free, but the standard of activity and the delivery by the tutors was super.”
“Thank you to the Maltings for providing these summer activities. They were fabulous and those that attended clearly had a wonderful time. Brilliant to expose more people to the arts and particularly the performing arts.”
“I do hope you can run these activities again and I will look out for future details.”
