An exciting new collaboration between Maltings Young Programmers and Young Surrey Film Festival.

Supporting the work of emerging filmmakers based in Farnham, London and across the UK, the event will screen a curated selection of short films covering a range of genres. The evening will also offer networking opportunities.

Film screenings will include:

To A Flame (13 mins), Dir Jamie Whitty

Alex, a first-time film director grapples with the toxicity in his relationship with his boyfriend, Daniel. While directing a body horror film the lines between his art and his reality blur, leading him to make a haunting decision.

The Menagerie (19 mins), Dir Viktoriia Chernykh & Ana Ofelia Floares

Through satirical portrayals, The Menagerie offers a glimpse into the diverse reactions of seven audience members towards the 1959 French absurdist play, Rhinoceros by Eugene Ionesco.

Catharsis (10 mins), Dir Joe Clarkson

Catharsis is about Richard, a lonely man in his 30s who has one focus in his life; watching his favourite game show every week. After adverts about becoming a ‘perfect man’ appear in his dreams, he begins following a group to achieve this goal at whatever cost.

Laid To Rest (14 mins), Dir Evie Shrimpton

Laid to Rest is the story of a woman compelled to eat the flesh of men finding an unlikely partner in her vengeance.

Donkey (16 mins), Dir Matt Kazman

After receiving an emergency call, a struggling actor has to face his family during his lowest moment.

Predators (18 mins), Dir Jack King

Predators is a short dark, suburban slice-of-life tale, a paranoid character study of the dark-side of childhood. A group of kids lives are irrevocably changed when they discover a dangerous predator living in the woods.

Ollie (12 mins), Dir Miles Davies

Ollie is a short, British skateboarding drama following the journey of Olivia ("Ollie"), a young skater who finds herself battling to land her first trick.
