Taiko Meantime join forces with Farnham Taiko for an afternoon of the best in local youth and national professional Taiko drumming.

Taiko Meantime were founded in Greenwich in 2001 (hence the name!). With influences from traditional Taiko as well as rock and jazz, they take their audiences on a musical journey, playing powerful percussion and haunting melodies with breathtaking precision and passion. They have performed in theatres all over the world (including Japan), the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, and are regulars at Glastonbury and WOMAD festivals. They last performed at the Maltings in 2017 with esteemed Kodo drummer/dancer Chieko Kojima.

Farnham Taiko youth group has been run by local Taiko player Mark Alcock since 2014. Loved locally for their uplifting performances, they are competing in the 2024 Music For Youth national championships, and look forward to playing at the Royal Albert Hall for the second time later in the year. They are regular performers at local events including Farnham Round Table's Fireworks, Christmas Market and the Mayor's concerts.

The joint concert promises to be an unforgettable feast of Taiko: powerful rhythms, dynamic movements and a huge dose of fun!
