Chosen by our Young Programmers to commemorate Pride month, this 1994 road trip movie starring Hugo Weaving, Terence Stamp and Guy Pearce changed representation in cinema forever, and is not to be missed.

In Sydney, struggling drag queen Tick (Hugo Weaving) is presented with an opportunity to headline a casino across the country, and more importantly, reunite with his long lost son. Together with fellow queens 'Felicia' (Guy Pearce) and Bernadette (Terence Stamp), they set out to cross the outback in their bus, dubbed 'Priscilla, Queen of the Desert'. When faced with intolerance, breakdowns and unusual rural characters, they have only their friendship and their love of ABBA to keep them together.

Enjoy this historic title which catapulted some of screens best talents to new heights!

Good ain't the half of it in this case - it's funny, it's endearing, it's strangely touching. [19 Aug 1994]

It’s a tremendous film that was ahead of its time on LGBT issues and, in some ways, is ahead of ours.
