Spend the day learning how to paint portraits in oils from reference photos which will be provided. We will look at what makes a good reference photo, how to sketch out the image in paint using observational drawing, underpainting to create a tonal portrait before building the portrait up in colour using a limited colour palette.

For this workshop we will be using the Zorn palette which will enable us to create flesh tones without overcomplicating our colour mixes.

Suitable for all abilities.

All materials provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own paints and brushes. Please wear old clothes and/or apron.
