Join experienced artist and tutor Jo Shepherd for a day of learning how to paint birds in oils.

Start with an introduction to the fundamentals of oil painting followed by a short demonstration of how to approach painting birds in oils.

Working from photographic images of familiar British birds you will then progress to painting small portraits of individual birds. We will be painting on primed boards and will be looking at composition, mark making, colour mixing and tonal values in order to capture life and vibrancy in our little bird paintings.

All materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own paints and brushes if you wish.

Oil paint can get everywhere so please wear old clothes and/or an apron
