Join experienced artist and tutor Jo Shepherd for a day of learning how to paint birds in oils.

You will start with an introduction to the fundamentals of oil painting and then have some preliminary practice of accurately drawing birds. You will then progress to painting small portraits of individual birds. You will be painting on a primed board and will be working from photographic images of familiar British birds. You will be looking at composition, mark making and tonal values in order to capture life and vibrancy in your little bird paintings.

All materials are provided but feel free to bring your own paints and brushes if you wish. You may also wish to bring an apron.
