Nominated for Best Film at the 2025 Golden Globes and based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Colson Whitehead, Nickel Boys tell the story of Elwood Curtis, a young African-American boy, who is sent to the reformatory Nickel Academy for a crime he didn’t commit.

While there, he meets a boy named Turner, and the two form a close friendship as they try to survive the horrors of the school and its corrupt administrators. Backdropped by the burgeoning Civil Rights Movement, Elwood and Turner’s existence appear worlds away from Rev. Martin Luther King’s burnished oratory.

Director: Ramell Ross

Cast: Brandon Wilson, Ethan Herisse, Hamish Linklater
