TreadBoard Theatre are developing a new musical, and are hosting some community workshops to speak directly to mums.
Director Alix Cazalet is keen to meet and chat with local mums, of any age, whose adventure into motherhood wasn't the fairy tale they’d hoped for.
- Did you have a difficult pregnancy, birth or complications after birth?
- Does your child have long term needs?
- Was motherhood a different experience to the one you had anticipated?
Alix is developing a new musical, Baby Hurts, inspired by her own story of becoming a mum to a child with ongoing medical issues. It’s important that the show includes the experiences of other women, which will be woven into the story, so that we can shed light on this version of motherhood which is rarely discussed and seldom celebrated.
Alix will be holding workshops between May and July across Hampshire and Surrey. The sessions will allow participants to share their stories in a safe, confidential and friendly space.
There will be quizzes, games, questionnaires and cake! Please come along and support this project - your input will be invaluable in helping to bring our experiences into the spotlight.
Workshops are limited to 8 participants. For more information or to register your interest, please email: alix@treadboard.co.uk
Baby Hurts is an Arts Council funded project and R&D public sharings will be held at the Maltings on Fri 26 & Sat 27 September.
