Learn how to use a knot pattern to create a round trivet or mat, and master the skill of splicing to hide the ends of the rope.
During this workshop you will learn a traditional knotting method to create a circular rope mat, measuring 24cm in diameter. The rope used is made from flax, and is relatively soft on the hands when working. You will also be taught how to a use a ‘fid’ (a ropework tool) to create a splice to hide the ends of the rope in the finished pattern.
