This creative workshop invites you to explore the delicate interplay of colour and texture using yarn as your canvas.
Drawing inspiration from traditional resist dye and ikat techniques, you’ll learn how to create vibrant compositions that can be used as inspirational starting points for a wide range of crafts; whether embroidery, knitting, weaving, or building colour palettes for future projects.
The session begins with selecting a variety of yarns and wrapping them around card to form a base. You’ll then apply dye directly onto the yarn, experimenting with colour placement and blending. Once the yarns are dry, they are rewrapped onto fresh cards to reveal striking patterns and layered effects. This hands-on process encourages intuitive design and playful experimentation, making it suitable for all skill levels. It’s a mindful, tactile experience that allows you to engage with colour in a fresh and inspiring way.
All materials are provided, and no prior experience is necessary, just bring your curiosity and creativity.
