Join watercolour artist Kristina Kivu for a relaxed session exploring how to paint minimalist mountains and misty forests in watercolour.
This workshop focuses on working with a limited colour palette to create minimalist, atmospheric landscapes.
Through guided exercises, you’ll build layered washes to create depth, using water to soften edges and allow forms to appear naturally. The focus is on letting shapes emerge, rather than trying to define them too early, so the sense of mist and distance can develop. This is not a realistic painting workshop, you will learn how to create the suggestions of shapes and forms through brush control and learning how water and pigment interact.
You’ll work with indigos, blues and greens, learn to mix them and observe how colour and value can shift the atmosphere of the painting. There will be demonstrations throughout, along with one-to-one support as you work. By the end of the session, you’ll have a series of moody landscape studies and a clearer sense of how to create layers, washes and softness in your own work.
All materials provided. You will be given a complete watercolour kit, including paints, brushes and paper, to use during the session and take home afterwards.
