Farnham Bee Trail

Farnham Maltings and the Museum of Farnham are proud to be part of Farnham’s Bee Trail, a lovely self-guided adventure for all ages created by Hive Helpers in partnership with Farnham Town Council.

The interactive trail leads you through the town’s picturesque green spaces, gardens, and hidden corners, celebrating Farnham’s buzzing bee population and the vital role these pollinators play. The bee trail booklet includes information about the bees you might see and pictures of the plants that bees love.

You can download the Bee Trail or pick up your free copy from our Box Office or Front Desk at the Museum. While following the trail you can make a brass rubbing at each bee hotspot.

Bee Hotspot 7 -Farnham Maltings Garden

A tiny garden in a delightful riverside setting, planted with perennials for all seasons. Look out for echinops – bumblebees love these blue globe-shaped flowers.

Bee Hotspot 10 - Museum of Farnham Garden

A hidden gem at the town museum, featuring varied planting schemes designed to attract a wide range of bees.

Daffodil Planting

In autumn 2025, we planted two large sacks of daffodil bulbs, kindly donated by Squires Garden Centre. Our volunteers were joined by volunteers from Space2Grow, who generously gave up their morning to help collect and plant the bulbs.

Not only will the daffodils brighten the front of the Maltings building and car park, they will also be useful for early pollinators. Look out for them in bloom this spring!

Museum of Farnham Garden

The Museum of Farnham’s walled garden is a hidden gem. Fully accessible, it offers a tranquil place to sit and enjoy a rich variety of planting.

There are several themed areas to explore, including plant dye beds, Roman and Tudor gardening displays, and a Dig for Victory garden. Visitors can also discover a hop garden, monastic garden, orchards and nutteries.

Plans for the Future

  • Selling local honey in the Maltings Store and Museum Shop.
  • Running themed activities based on national wildlife days
