facilities & accessibility
Is there a cashpoint on site?
There is no cashpoint at Farnham Maltings. The nearest cashpoint is in Farnham Town Centre, approximately 10 minutes’ walk away. Although most exhibitors will take card payments, it may be helpful to have some cash on you for those who don’t. On entry to the festival, cash payments allow easier and quicker access.
Will I be able to purchase food/ refreshments at thread?
Yes. One of the lovely things about the Farnham Maltings’ festival experience is the opportunity to enjoy the in-house food choices. The Maltings’ Riverside Café will be open throughout the day serving breakfast and lunch. There is also the Foyer Bar and Cellar Bar where you can pick up a range of snacks and drinks.
How is the festival accessible to those with access requirements?
With our new and upgraded lift systems, all the rooms used for thread festival are accessible to those with access requirements, including the Barley Room, Tindle Studio and the Great Hall stage. If you would like more information on workshop accessibility, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01252 745444.
I am a Blue Badge Holder. Where can I park and do I need to pay to park?
We have four designated disabled spaces at the front of the car park, opposite the entrance to the building. If you are Blue Badge holder, you will not have to pay for parking.
parking & transport
The Maltings has its own car park outside the building. For more information on how to arrive by road, please read information for visitors.
Where else can I park if the Maltings’ car park is full?
There are other car parks around the town where you will able to park including Farnham Train Station Car Park, Wagon Yard Car Park and Central Car Park. Most of these are in a 10 minute walking distance from the Maltings.
Please bear in mind that due to the Farnham Carnival parade, some town centre car parks will be closed from 5.45pm. Find out more about the car park availability on the festival day in this handy document here. Read on for more details about Farnham Carnival.
How easy is it to get to the Maltings by train?
Farnham is approximately 55 minutes from London Waterloo and there are regular services (ranging from half hourly to hourly). The Maltings is a five-minute walk from Farnham Railway Station.
This year, thread is on the same day as Farnham Carnival. Whilst the building will not be affected by the carnival, the traditional parade throughout the town centre will see road closures and affect parking facilities around town between 5.45pm – 8pm. It also means that parking throughout the town may be busier than usual throughout the day.
From 5.45pm, town centre car parks including Wagon Yard Car park, Lower Hart Car Park, Upper Hart Car Park and Central Car Park will be closed and will not re-open until 8pm. If you choose to park in any of those places when you visit thread, please bear this in mind. Farnham Station Car Park will not be affected by the road closure and costs just £2 for day parking. Find out more about the car park closures in this handy document here.
For more information on the road closures and parking facilities, please visit the Farnham Carnival webpage.
We hope you have a lovely day out at thread 2018!
