Equus
Carys Jones

Riverside Café Gallery, Farnham Maltings
24 November – 5 January 2018

The Riverside Café Gallery is proud to present the third solo exhibition by award winning equine fine art photographer Carys Jones.

Showcasing new work which is presented mainly in black & white with the occasional colour image, ‘Equus’ explores equine behaviour – showing horses at rest, at play and interacting with one another. The exhibition also explores the horse as part of the landscape – featuring them often as only smaller elements of a larger canvas.

Carys’ exhibition reflects her general approach of capturing images of horses in their native and natural habitats; most on display were taken in Iceland and the French Camargue earlier this year. Carys is also displaying one or two of her favourite images taken in previous years.

Carys Jones

Carys is a largely self-taught photographer, intrigued by the creative abilities of the camera and drawn increasingly to black & white, abstract and impressionistic photographic interpretations of what she sees around her.

Specialising in equine photography and happiest when she’s in the open air, her work explores how traditional images can be reinvented, often using slower shutter speeds. Carys’ work reflects her love of horses and her understanding of their nature honed over many years as a horse owner.
