Soups, Smørrebrød and salads are on the new menu at the Maltings’ Riverside Café, now operating from the Foyer.
The philosophy behind the new menu is fresh, local, and seasonal. On the launch menu, Creamy Chicken Chowder and Sweet Potato Soup served with artisan sourdough provide a comforting bowl, perfect for an autumnal day. Open Danish sandwiches (Smørrebrød) served on a slice of rye or sourdough bread can be selected on their own for a light lunch, or as part of a lunchtime combo for a more substantial meal. Vegans are well catered for across the menu which includes seasonal salads. Little Maltings visitors have their own healthy choices of toasties and picnic boxes. Danish pastries and sweet treats are available all day from the Foyer Bar.
The best ingredients derive from a mix of local and trusted suppliers. SøDT Bakery (pronounced soot, Danish for sweet) makes traditional artisan breads using natural ingredients and slow fermentation for extra depth of flavour. The Cupsmith Roastery, located in an oak barn just outside Farnham, provide fresh coffee to drink on the premises, with the beans available to purchase from the maltings store. Bryant & Brothers the Maltings’ fruit and vegetable supplier deliver the very best produce from Covent Garden Market and selected local farms, orchards and growers. SøDT Bakery – seeded loaves, rye, sourdough and other artisan loaves will be available to buy to enjoy at home.
“We have thought really carefully about how we make sure that our café reflects the Maltings ambition to be a happy, open and relaxed space for everyone. The new menu reflects our desire to be independent, healthy and informal.” Gavin Stride, Director, Farnham Maltings
