The Museum runs a monthly Young Archaeologist’s Club aimed at 8-13 year olds, costing £15 per term.

The club provides an opportunity for children to have fun finding out about their local history and archaeology, meet real archaeologists and craftspeople, develop new skills and make new friends in the process.

We explore everything from Prehistory to the Romans, Anglo Saxons to life as an Archaeologist. Club members take part in craft activities, archaeological digs and trips out.

Sessions will take place on the last Saturday of every month. Booking essential for each session, to confirm your place please contact the Museum on 01252 715 094 or

Spring 2018 Programme

This term our YAC group will look at life in the Tudor period. Find out about the gruesome world of Tudor medicine, handle real Tudor artefacts and dress up as a Tudor child.

Dates and times for the autumn programme are as follows:

12th May 2018

We will be kicking things off with an introduction to all things archaeology. Learn the basics of excavation with the Museum’s dig kit, explore the archaeology of the future and make a cress cropmark to take home.

11am-12.30pm or 2.30pm-4pm Garden Gallery

16th June 2018

In this session we will put our YAC member’s detective skills to the test. What does archaeological poo tell us about what people in the past ate? We will use our findings to create a feast fit for all the ages.

11am-12.30pm or 2.30pm-4pm Garden Gallery

28th July 2018

This July, YAC members are invited to join us and Surrey Archaeological Society in the Museum garden for the Finding Farnham Festival, as we celebrate a summer of Archaeology. With fun for all the family, you can try your hand at excavation, meet a Prehistoric man, and a host of other archaeological activities.

Suitable for all ages, please drop in any time between 11am-4pm.
