The Maltings is also a great old building and an integral part of Farnham; it’s a piece of its history and a part of the community… I couldn’t imagine Farnham without it.’ – Lucy Hammond, member

Every year there are over 400,000 visits to the Maltings where people of all ages get a chance to imagine, learn and create. By leaving a gift to the charity you can help secure its long term future of enabling more people to make, see and enjoy the best art and heritage activities possible.

Absolutely anyone can leave a legacy. A gift of any size is greatly appreciated and will be used wisely and with accountability.

As the Maltings is a charity, every gift left is exempt from Inheritance Tax.

How to Leave a Legacy

You can support the work of The Maltings by leaving a gift in your Will to the Farnham Maltings Association Ltd, charity number 305034.

If you already have a Will and wish to add a gift for the benefit of the Maltings then you can do this by making a codicil (amendment) to your Will.

In every case we strongly recommend that you consult a solicitor when making or updating your Will, to ensure that it is legally valid and reflects your intentions.

Find a solicitor on the Law Society website: http://www.lawsociety.org.uk/find-a-solicitor/

Types of gift

There are a number of options you might consider:

  • A share of your estate, known as a residual bequest: This is a gift of the remainder (or proportion of the remainder) of your estate, after all payments, taxes and other bequests have been made. This option allows you to take care of friends and family first and still make a meaningful donation. We suggest the following wording: “I give ___% / all [please specify] of the residue of my estate to the Trustees of the Farnham Maltings Association Ltd (registered charity number No. 305034) of Bridge Square, Farnham, Surrey GU9 7QR, to hold on trust for its general charitable purposes.”
  • A specific sum of money known as a pecuniary bequest: This is a fixed sum of money decided by you. We suggest the following wording: “I give the sum of ___ to the Trustees of the Farnham Maltings Association Ltd (registered charity number No. 305034) of Bridge Square, Farnham, Surrey GU9 7QR to hold on trust for its general charitable purposes.”
  • A specific bequest: You can also bequeath specific personal possessions such as property or shares. We suggest the following wording: “I give ___________ [detailed description of specific item] to the Trustees of the Farnham Maltings Association Ltd (registered charity number No. 305034) of Bridge Square, Farnham, Surrey GU9 7QR, to hold on trust for its general charitable purposes.”
