How you can get involved with SPARK YOUTH ARTS FESTIVAL 2017!

Come and help make our tenth Annual Youth Arts Festival a great success by booking into our free workshops and develop your skills and confidence whilst having a great time.

The Festival will take place between Friday 24 and Sunday 26 March 2017 for children and young people aged 7-25 years.  Parents and carers are also welcome to participate in some of the workshops, such as the Comic Relief Dance-a-Thon and the Decorate-a-Cake-with-Mum on Mothering Sunday.

Spark is the Farnham Maltings Annual Youth Arts Festival, which will be returning for its tenth year, helping children and young people learn new skills, build confidence and share artistic skills over three days of workshops, all of which are free.

The Festival opens on Friday 24 March between 5-8pm with an Art Exhibition and presentation of the Young Artist Award 2017.  The exhibition will encompass drawings, paintings and mixed media by children and young local artists. We have had over 100 entries for this year’s competition which explored the theme: Visions of the Future, and all will be on display at the opening  There are three age categories for winners and the winners will be announced at 6pm.

On Saturday 25 March, there will be a Comic Relief Dance-a-Thon run by The Dance Movement between 10-12 noon, and costing £2 per person to participate.  All the money raised from the Dance-a-Thon will be donated to Comic Relief.  There will be six, 20 minute sessions where dancers will be moonwalking to Michael Jackson, dosedoing and shaking their hips to Bollywood beats!

Please sign up for this fun event as the more people participating, the more money we can raise for the worthy cause of Comic Relief.

Rachel Palmer, Programme Director at The Dance Movement says, “We are particularly keen to encourage mums and daughters to come along to the Dance-a-Thon and to have fun taking part in an activity together.  Dance is for everyone and this event aims to raise money and give participants a really brief insight into some different styles of dancing”
