The autumn half term is always a busy time at Farnham Maltings, with the hustle and bustle of children enjoying the holiday: making, baking and creating everything from shadow puppets to spooktacular biscuits.

There are lots of activities to keep kids big and small entertained, including: The Spectacular Balloon Show, with Danny and his crazy balloon creations; Universarama, where Professor Johnson will reveal the secrets of the universe!; Comedy Club 4 Kids, laughter guaranteed for the young and young at heart!

We are particularly excited about the hugely popular Big Fish Little Fish Family Rave which will be bringing the Maltings to life, with glow sticks, tons of UV and the best beats around!

theatre maltings: Universarama!

Thu 29 October, 2pm – 3.50pm
£10 (£8 conc.)

Since the dawn of time, human beings have gazed up at the night sky and wondered…
What’s up there?
How far does it go?
Does it ever end?
Well, wonder no longer!
All these questions and more will be answered in Universarama! (Possibly).

Let Professor Johnson of the Squashbox take you on a journey to the edges of space and time! Along the way explore the solar system, study the stars and constellations, and visit distant galaxies.

Using only silly puppets, ridiculous and unnecessary props, simple household objects and assorted fruits and vegetables, Professor Johnson will reveal the secrets of the universe!

Universarama! is a marvellous blend of spectacle, storytelling and cabaret, all contained within an accessible, funny and unique family show. For ages 7 +

Squashbox Theatre will be leading a shadow puppet workshop before the show.
Using simple techniques and household materials you can make a spaceship, build a rocket or even invent your own alien creature, and then learn to operate it on the magical Squashbox shadow screen.

Comedy Club 4 Kids
Fri 30 October, 2pm – 3pm
£8

Book online

For over a decade Comedy Club 4 Kids has been getting the best stand-ups and sketch acts from the international circuit to do their thing for an audience of children (aged 6+) and their families… but without the rude bits! The show is family friendly, but without any patronising idiocy. In fact, it’s just like a normal comedy club, but it’s on in the day, kids are allowed in, and thus there is a higher than usual chance of heckles like “why is that your face!?”

Test your funny bones at the Comedy Academy 4 Kids before the show.
Led by the comics themselves learn to find the funny in your own experiences and turn it into stand-up and sketches that will get your friends and family in stitches. Find out more and buy tickets on our website.

We have a number  of crafty Halloween and autumnal workshops for children of all ages throughout the week too. For a full list, please visit our workshop pages.
