Framed 45s: A Wall of Sound@Farnham Maltings is a unique exhibition of framed 7-inch vinyl records in original iconic covers, featuring artists as diverse as Nat King Cole to the Sex Pistols. Framed45s, created by Windlesham resident Paul Murphy, was launched last year on display at the prestigious Lightbox Gallery in Woking, where it attracted the attention of ITV Meridian. The Maltings exhibition however is almost three times the size of the original, featuring over 100 framed records, thereby making it the world’s biggest framed vinyl singles exhibition!
Why Framed45s? Some record covers are just too good to be living in a box. Some record covers are works of art. Some record covers still makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end years later – in fact decades later. Your first date, your first dance; jazz nights, punk nights; Flower Power, Girl Power; freak outs, stay ins… Each one is an artistic statement and freezes a moment in time.
Framed45s has been “favourited” by music legends Annie Nightingale and Bob Harris, and Classic Pop Magazine said “We love Framed45s, a company that has a combined love of sleeve art, record hunting and picture framing : sleeve design is a dying art and deserves to be celebrated, framed and exhibited more often”.
The exhibition runs until March 27th and all itemsare for sale, most at only £15. A bargain when you consider each is not only a piece of art but a playable vinyl record!
