festival of crafts, Farnham Maltings’ longest running craft event, is back this weekend (26 & 27 October 2019), with a bumper crop of makers displaying their talents and wares.
Long established as one of Britain’s leading independent craft events (now in its 23rd year), festival of crafts continues to prove that consumers are seeking out unique, one-of-a-kind items not found on the high street. The annual two-day show attracts over 2,000 craft and making enthusiasts from across the south of England.
This year festival of crafts welcomes over 80 emerging and established makers from across the UK to its diverse marketplace. The exhibitors specialise in everything from textiles, glass, leather, ceramics, jewellery and more – with something for every taste and budget. Visitors to festival of crafts will enjoy exploring the historic Maltings buildings where there is something to discover around every corner.
A complementary programme of artist installations, bookable workshops, demonstrations and participatory activities accessible for the whole family round out the celebration of craft happening over the festival of crafts weekend.
*See an art installation by UCA Master Graduate Jennifa Chowdhury
* Take time out to participate in The Big Draw ‘ drawn to life’ and contribute a drawing on the theme of ‘ Demolition and Regeneration’ to the collaborative art installation being constructed over the two days.
festival of crafts is the final event of Farnham Craft Town Month, a celebration of contemporary craft in Farnham throughout October. Now in its fifth year, Farnham Craft Town Month aims to recognise Farnham’s rich heritage in craft and the contemporary makers based in the town. Visitors are invited to listen, watch and get creative (with activities suitable for all) as Farnham Town Council and many local creative organisations, including Farnham Maltings, University for the Creative Arts and the Museum of Farnham, come together to host this celebration of craft.
