Artist Flora Gare will introduce sculpting with wire; learning to trace, join and shape coloured copper wire, from a drawing into a beautiful bird sculpture. Start by creating the 2D frame outline from a drawing and develop it building layer upon layer of wire, to create your 3D bird. There will be a choice from over 15 different coloured wires as well as copper and brass mesh.
Please bring an image
of a bird and a small pair of pliers if you have them. All materials included.

Tutor name: Flora Gare
Flora is a sculptor and has been teaching drawing and sculpture in workshops, schools and adult education for over 20 years.

She graduated with an MA in Sculpture from Winchester School of Art and has since undertaken exhibitions and public commissions for various spaces such as hospitals, swimming pools and galleries including the New Ashgate gallery, Farnham. Inspired by the elements of light and water she uses delicate materials to explore time, memory and nostalgia in original and unexpected ways.
