In this workshop students will be able to learn through simple samples of stitches the basics of the Portuguese Knitting Style:
Small historical framework of the Portuguese Knitting Style.
How to hold the yarn, the needles, the placement of the hands and the correct tension when knitting.
How to use the Portuguese Knitting Style in order to minimize movements and consequently reduce the risk of injuries typical of other forms of knitting.
How to use the Portuguese Knitting Style in order to knit in a more efficient, quick and simple way.
Suitable for all levels of knitters.
4 mm and 4.5 mm/ US 6/ 7 circular needles
some basic notions like stitch markers scissors etc...

André de Castro is knitwear designer and instructor based in Porto, Portugal. His first training is as classical violinist, but later and because of his love about textiles and clothes in general he studied Fashion Design and Illustration. At this moment his focus is the Portuguese Style of Knitting and the way to spread this tradition abroad using the techniques from Portugal as a source of inspiration. Other of André’s passions history and the knitting traditions around the world... so he decided to develop a way of using the Portuguese Style and apply it to all kinds of knitting techniques to make them more effective, simple, and quick to execute. André also designs knitwear under the brand ANDREKNITS and he teaches regularly in international knitting festivals and events
