With experienced designer & shawl enthusiast Karie Westermann, learn how to design and calculate your own shawls in just a few hours! Together you will look at how shawls are constructed, learn how to insert stitch patterns into shawls and figure out how to think outside the box.
Participants must know how to knit, purl, working a yarnover and doing at least one decrease. How to read an easy lace chart Must have knitted at least two shawls.
1 ball of 4ply (at least 50% natural fibres)
1 pair of 4mm needles(straight or circular –if circular, then 24” preferred) Selection of stitch marker
Tutor: Karie Westermann
Karie is a Danish-Scottish knitting designer, writer, and teacher. Her work combines her love of Nordic storytelling with classic knitwear design. Recent publications includes contributions to The Official Outlander Knitting Book, Knit With Attitude - 10 Years Anniversary, and The Knitter. Karie is a sought-after knitting teacher and has taught all over Europe for many years.
