Tutor biography: Paula Clark
Brighton-based designer, maker and founder of cocoon&me, Paula Clark, works with natural, high-quality and sustainably-sourced materials such as jute, rope, cotton, wool and recycled textile yarns using
artisanal techniques such as crochet, knitting and macramé to produce a textured range of contemporary and beautiful pieces. The realisation of a creative spirit and love of aesthetics, Paula’s unique designs elicit a subtle and distinctive simplicity to adorn you, your home and garden. Put simply, the aim is to make beautiful objects for everyday living and life. Paula fell in love with all things creative at a very young age whilst helping her multi-talented artist mother in her Covent Garden studio in the 1970s.
Growing up in an environment buzzing with creativity, art and design she went on to study a specialist Textile Degree at Middlesex. After finishing university, Paula enjoyed a long and successful career working in fashion as a knitwear designer and creative director with many of the UK’s leading businesses. In 2016, Paula decided to follow her long-held dream of running her own business and cocoon&me was born. From the very start, the aim has been to create a brand of beautiful things for like-minded people whilst at all timesrespecting the people and planet that we all rely upon.
