Blackwork is a form of geometric embroidery made famous in the Tudor era. It is made using evenweave or Aida fabric and strands of black embroidery thread. Various things can be made from blackwork including chess boards, cushions, hangings etc. This class is suitable for all abilities. You can make beautiful items with simple instructions, learn with Marion to make a card and leave and with the skilks to continue blackwork at home.
All materials provided. Please bring small embroidery scissors. f you require a magnifying glass for details, please bring one with you.
Marion Nicholson has been making things from blackwork for many years. She is an enthusiastic teacher and is a multi skilled maker in all craft forms. She loves to pass on her skills in textiles, knitting and crochet to others.
