All workshops include a tea or coffee and day entry to the thread festival
Everyone is welcome to this three hour workshop. Using a needle,cloth and dye learn to create a series of experimental samples exploring a variety of ways to use of shibori wrap, stitch, fold and twisting techniques. To create your own unique handkerchief, the same techniques can be applied to create larger artworks/ t-shirts etc.
Tutor: Nao Fukumoto O’Neill
Nao is a weaver with over 15 years experience. She studied traditional Japanese weaving techniques which normally use Ikat and natural dye.
Level / Ability: No previous experience necessary. Suitable for beginners.
Materials provided: Cotton fabrics.
Participants should bring with them: Rubber gloves; Apron/overalls; Sewing needles; Small embroidery scissors; Strong white or cream cotton or polyester thread
Note: please dress appropriately for a course with the potential for mess!
