Spark is the Maltings annual children and young people’s multi-arts festival bringing people together from across Waverley to enjoy, participate, watch and celebrate the arts.  Throughout the weekend we have an exciting programme of workshops, pop up craft, exhibitions and performances for all the family to enjoy!

Creative workshops for ages 5 – 25yrs

FREE (booking required)

Get dancing, improvising, making, crafting and just get creative in these fantastic free workshops. From drama to circus, to drumming to crafting to mosaic making – no previous experience required! A great chance to try something new, meet people and just have fun.

Family Workshop with New Adventures/Re:Bourne – 11am – 12pm. All ages

Take part in this magical storytelling adventure with dancers from New Adventures/Re:Bourne. A fantastic chance for families to take part together. Under 12’s must be accompanied by an adult.

Junk Percussion

12pm – 1pm. 5 – 9 years & 1pm – 2pm. 10 years +

Create and play exciting rhythms on junk in this energetic workshop!  Come and see that music can be made from anything.

Drama Workshop

1pm – 2pm. 5 – 9 years & 2.15pm – 3.15pm. 10 years +

A creative and fun drama workshop taking part in theatre games and bringing stories life.  

Boys Only Dance Workshop

1pm – 2pm. 9 years +

High energy and motivational boys only workshop where you will explore a range of styles from urban to contemporary!


Make and Take Sculpture Workshop

1.30pm – 3.30pm. 8 years +

Come along with your friends and create a large sculpture that will be on display for the Spark Celebration Performance.

Pop-Up Craft

12.15pm – 2.15pm. All ages

Everyone is warmly invited to drop into the Maltings and join us for art and craft making workshops.
