Following the latest government advice we have, with regret, decided to temporarily close the Farnham Maltings and cancel all events. The health and safety of our staff, visitors, artists and volunteers is of the utmost importance.

This is a hired event.

Free admission, donations to Crisis.

Sam’s Big Phat Band is a 20 piece big band made up of the local area’s finest young talent. Our members are aged 14-21 and are a mixture of university, college and school students. We play big band classics ranging from Miller to Basie to Goodwin. The band is led by lead trombonist and musical director Sam Dawes. Sam is a Farnham local and has grown up playing a wide variety of music including Classical, Jazz, Folk, Ska/Reggae and vocal music. He’s had experience playing with numerous Big Band’s including Farnham Big Band, FMD Jazz Band and NYJO Academy Big Band. He now studies at the Royal Academy of Music.

This time, Sam is joined by The Guatemalan Soufflé Patrol, an eight piece dixieland jazz band based in Farnborough, performing in the Hampshire/Surrey/Berkshire/London/West Sussex area or further afield. The band is led by ukulele extraordinaire Matthew Quilliam. It also features drums, keys, tuba, trumpet, trombone, clarinet and saxophone.

They will be supporting the Big Phat Band with a set from 7.

Donations from the concert will be going to Crisis. Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. We help people directly out of homelessness, and campaign for the changes needed to solve it altogether. We know that together we can end homelessness. Donations are accepted by cash on the day and online via justgiving.
