Explore exciting ways to combine watercolour with ink in your painting. The tutor, Julie Collins, will show various techniques to achieve wonderful watercolour and ink effects. Using different tools and colours you will experiment and also create several finished pieces during the day.

Julie will cover: colour and colour mixing, composition, tone, some drawing, working methods, and detailed information about various ink and watercolour materials.

Suitable for all abilities.

  • Watercolour paints - please bring whatever you have
  • Brush sizes - 1,4,6 and a larger brush (10 or 12). If you are working on a big canvas please bring a very large brush
  • Old brushes for mixing
  • Pencils - H or HB and 2B or 3B
  • Putty rubber
  • Masking tape
  • Ruler
  • Sharpener
  • Rough watercolour paper- for practice and testing colours
  • Watercolour paper- minimum weight 140lb for flowers, 200lb (425gsm) / 250lb (535gsm) for landscape
  • Sketch pad drawing paper/ cartridge paper
