Godspell’s sparkling score is by Academy and Grammy award winner Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Children of Eden, Pippin and Disney’s Pocahontas). The memorable score includes “Day By Day”, “Light of the World” and “Turn Back Oh Man”.
Brought bang up to date and set inside an old theatre which is closed and up for sale, this production has a contemporary setting, emphasising that the gospels still remain relevant. An unlikely band of people from varied backgrounds and professions are brought together under unusual circumstances. Suspicious of each other, hostile, uncommunicative, immersed in their 21st century technology, the situation does not look hopeful. The arrival of a stranger who, despite the group’s resistance, does not give up on them, reminds them of the important of friendship, loyalty, tolerance and love.
Suitable for age 8 and above.
